| Here is our latest and greatest bit of kit that we tweeted last year. It is a huge extension attachment for our high pressure washer capable of reaching three storeys. It allows the operator to move around landscapes and won't destroy grass like some lift equipement can. This changes the game when it comes to cleaning high walls and windows without scaffolding or lift equipment. As the year wraps up and we will all sigh with relief that we made it through another year, either stronger than ever, or with a few war wounds, the last items to look after is locking up the gulag /office, and not coming back to unpleasant surprises.
Here is a list of items that need to be delegated to someone else on Christmas Eve or put on the fridge for everyone:
- Ensure any changes are sent back to us regarding the closure of your premises.
- Will we perform the last service to empty the bins? If not, this has to be done. Coming back to maggots in January is not unheard of if someone leaves the bins full.
- Inform security of your closure.
- Consider turning off the tap to the dishwasher. (Pressure changes when people are on holidays can burst fittings)
- Clean out the fridge and put a box of bi-carb soda inside to absorb any stale odours.
- If odd staff use the office during this time, put a sign on the bin to put rubbish in the outside bin/skip.
- And finally, take the last day as a leave day and leave this list on someone else’s’ desk, preferable the prime suspect using all the coffee/suger/butter!
This will all seem like just another lot of jobs to get done, but if the dishwasher floods the office, or maggots are wishing you a happy new year on the first day back, won’t you wish someone had done it? |

If you are buying your toilet rolls through a supermarket, please stop and check the value of what you buy. It may seem cheap per roll but some rolls have as little as 100 sheets per roll, when the most popular roll we sell has 400 sheets and saves all the personal shopping time, petrol, time away from work and entering receipts into the accounts system etc. Let me know if you would like a product comparison.

Is a sick day more expensive than a refill of soap? |

Visit any nursing home or hospital and you will see a dispenser for antibacterial hand wash in a prominant position. Why do they supply these for free to the public?
We all know the unquestioned truth.. Germs are spread very effeciently through hand contact. The cost of a squirt or two of soap per staff member per day to decrease sick days is simple maths. One or more sick days can cost any company more than the refill cost, especially when productivity loss is added on top of that. It is impossible to measure a positive like staff not getting sick so trust the science. After losing a desktop and laptop to clogged cooling vents, I know how important it is to keep your computers cool so it saves you losing your hard earned work and even if you backup, we all know it's that reinstalling of software, updates and getting settings right that can break your spirit. Even cloud based applications still need a machine to run on and running out to buy a new machine is still costly. But don't worry, it is this easy to fix...
The dust and dirt is not just in the back of the computer, it is inside the machine and around the cooling fins inside laptops. The best way is to turn off the machine and then reverse the airflow by putting a vacuum at the back and then pumping high pressure air in the hot air outlets. This will ensure that the dust on the inside is removed as well as possible and not just recirculated inside the machine. It's not complicated but takes a little preparation and time.
